Meet Melissa Kearns, the founder and maker behind CaliLuna, a handmade brand featuring colorful, beach-inspired sewn accessories and gifts. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she currently lives, Melissa’s passion for design started early. As a young girl, she loved deconstructing old clothes, a playful habit that quickly evolved into a lifelong love for sewing, designing everything from everyday bags to formal gowns. Driven by her love for creative arts, Melissa took a big leap and moved to Los Angeles to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). Immersed in the West Coast lifestyle and surrounded by coastal inspiration, the spark for her future brand was born—and the name CaliLuna came to life.

To complement her design skills, Melissa later earned a business degree from Sam Houston State University. She has built a diverse professional background, from managing a boutique and working as a graphic designer to serving as a part-time stylist for Stitch Fix. Every creative path she has explored—dance, fashion, retail, business, and design—has beautifully shaped her journey and continues to infuse life into CaliLuna. 

The brand reflects everything she loved about that chapter of her life—bright, playful, with a touch of coastal charm. From quilted bags and wristlets to keychains and other handmade accessories, each item is thoughtfully designed and sewn using vibrant fabrics that bring personality and happiness to everyday life. Every stitch reflects her belief that handmade products should not only be functional but also spark joy and help people express their unique style. When she isn't in her studio creating handmade goodies, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, going on walks with her beloved dog, Ruca, and watching her favorite comedy movies with her husband. She also loves thrifting, shopping at local markets, dancing, and diving into new craft projects.
